A visit to Tonbridge School and Tonbridge parish church

TIMETABLE

1.30 pm We have managed to arrange a visit to the magnificent 4-manual, mechanical-action Marcussen organ in the Chapel of St Augustine at Tonbridge School:

In anticipation of high demand from members wishing to play the instrument, in due course a booking system of playing slots is likely to be announced for our 90-minute visit, with a time limit on each slot. Members will be able to indicate which piece or pieces they intend to play, or whether they prefer to explore the instrument improvisationally.

3.15 pm Visit to the 3-manual organ of the parish church of St Peter and St Paul, Tonbridge. It is a short walk from the School, and both buildings are in the town centre. Parts of this instrument may be by Samuel Green, and both Henry Jones and Gray and Davison added to it in the 19th century prior to its 20th-century rebuilds by other firms.

4.15 pm AGM, Tonbridge parish church. (20 or more members are required for the meeting to be quorate.)

4.45 pm Tea, Tonbridge parish church.
