Composition Success

One of our members, Toby Huitson, entered Blackburn Cathedral’s Lent composition competition to write a piece for organ based on a Lent hymn, and was placed joint second overall. There were 25 entrants nationally. Toby’s piece ‘Versets on Lucis Creator’ was played at Blackburn Cathedral as the voluntary after the Sunday morning Eucharist on 23rd March (see the Blackburn Cathedral Youtube channel for a recording of the service), once again at a workshop the same afternoon, and subsequently by both the composer at Brook and by Stephen Banfield at St Mildred’s Canterbury.
