The Parish Church of St John the Baptist, Penshurst, Kent is looking for an organist or pianist and choir leader

with an enthusiastic and able robed choir looking for a skilled musician and teacher with a passion for church music.

About the role:

We are looking for someone who can play our organ or grand piano to a good standard and train, nurture and develop our choir. 

This would involve collaborating with our Rector to develop and enhance the musical life of the church and parish. 

Bring energy and creativity to our weekly Sung Eucharist, choir practices and major feast day services.

Embrace a diverse musical repertoire, blending old and new hymns, and bring fresh ideas for engaging the congregation through music.

We hope to start a junior choir in the near future.

About our organ: 

In year 2000, F H Brown and Sons Canterbury, carried out an overhaul and rebuild of our 1907 Walker organ.  The organ was resited with detached console, electric action and new blower. Various additions including 32’ Open Wood ‘polyphonic pipe’. For more details please see the following link.

About our piano:

We have a beautiful, 1909 Bluthner Concert Grand Piano.

We are looking for someone to join us as soon as possible. Fees to be discussed on application, for our regular 10am Sunday services, weddings, funerals and other occasional services.
