Play the Organ Year event in Tunbridge Wells

As many will know, 2025 is the Royal College of Organists' Play the Organ Year. KCOA's eminent and very active member Gavin Barrett is playing a prominent role in an event at the church of King Charles the Martyr in Tunbridge Wells, organised by the church's director of music Rupert Preston Bell. Gavin points out: 'it’s basically a “have-a-go” session for novices or pianists who have not tried the organ before. There will be a brief overview of the instrument and a couple of demonstration pieces, plus various organists on hand to answer questions about taking lessons and all that. If any KCOA member would like to come along with a group of “wannabes” they would be most welcome. Please note that we ask people to register ahead of time so that we can pace the proceedings!'

The KCOA will be doing its own 'Play the Organ Year' event in October (see its separate entry), but clearly the more evangelisation accomplished this year the better. Do take someone along if you can.

Sunday afternoon, 22 June 2025.
